Seed Savers Exchange Carrot, Jaune Du Doubs
A French variety. Its name comes from the yellow color of its skin (jaune) and the region in eastern France around the Doubs River. Bright yellow 8-10" conical roots. Sweet, distinctive flavor improves with cooking; roots retain their color. Stores well. 60-70 days.
This crop can be direct seeded into warm soil after the last spring frost. If you sow a section or row every two or three weeks, you can get a continuous crop.
Keep the soil around these plants moist until the seed has germinated and weed free throughout the growing season. Mulching the soil around the plants will help keep the roots cool.
