(aka Rainbow Chard) Australian heirloom from Digger’s Garden Club. Technicolor mixture of Swiss chards with shades of red, orange, purple, yellow, and white tastes as good as it looks. Seed crops of all the different colors are grown in isolation to maintain a proper balance of colors. Tender and delicious. 50-60 days.

Learn To Grow It

This crop can be direct seeded into the garden 3-5 weeks before the last frost date, or you can start seedlings indoors around the same time. Transplant seedlings after your last frost.

These seeds can be broadcast evenly in sections of the garden to create a bed of tender leaves and thinned to 4 inches apart as they mature. Plant your seeds 1/4-3/4 in. deep.

If you want to use this crop or fresh eating harvest the small, young leaves. The outer leaves of the plant can be harvested for cooking greens as the plant grows.

 

Mulching the soil around this crop can help protect the plant and keep roots cool and moist. In frost-free zones, this crop can be grow throughout the fall and winter.
