Price: $23.50

The General Hydroponics Rapid Rooter 50-Cell Plug Tray provides a convenient propagation system for germinating seeds and rooting plant cuttings. It contains 50 natural, soilless grow plugs arranged in a ready-to-use cell tray for consistent spacing and easy plant management.

Rapid Rooter plugs are made from composted organic materials bonded with plant-derived polymers. Their porous structure maintains a beneficial balance of moisture and oxygen around developing roots, encouraging vigorous early root development without using traditional potting soil.

Key Benefits

  • Complete 50-cell tray: Provides 50 individual propagation sites for seeds or plant cuttings.
  • Natural soilless matrix: Made from composted organic materials and tree bark bonded with plant-derived polymers.
  • Balanced moisture and aeration: Helps young roots receive water while maintaining essential oxygen around the root zone.
  • Preformed planting holes: Simplifies seed placement and the insertion of prepared cuttings.
  • Supports microbial activity: The organic plug matrix creates a hospitable environment for beneficial root-zone biology.
  • Easy transplanting: Move the entire plug without disturbing delicate young roots.
  • Versatile compatibility: Transplant into hydroponic systems, coco coir, soil, or other soilless media.

For Seed Germination

  1. Check each plug before planting. If necessary, briefly soak or evenly moisten the plugs with water or a very mild nutrient solution.
  2. Allow excess water to drain so the plugs remain consistently moist but not saturated.
  3. Place one or two seeds into each preformed planting hole.
  4. Lightly pinch the opening closed or cover it with a small piece of plug material when the seed requires darkness.
  5. Maintain suitable warmth and humidity until seedlings emerge.

For Plant Cuttings

  1. Prepare each cutting using clean, sanitized tools.
  2. If desired, apply a compatible rooting gel to the prepared stem.
  3. Insert the cutting gently into the preformed hole, ensuring the stem contacts the moist plug material.
  4. Place the tray beneath a compatible humidity dome and provide appropriate propagation lighting.

Moisture and Transplanting

Keep the plugs evenly moist without leaving them submerged in deep water. When bottom watering, place the cell tray inside a compatible watertight propagation tray and use only enough water to maintain moisture through gentle wicking.

Transplant once healthy roots are visible through the sides or bottom of the plugs. Do not remove the plug from the roots—place the entire rooted plug directly into its new hydroponic system, coco coir, soil, or soilless growing medium.

Storage: Keep unused plugs sealed in an airtight bag or container in a cool, dark location. Protect them from drying air, excessive moisture, heat, and direct sunlight.
