Botanicare Clearex Salt Leaching Solution
Botanicare Clearex is a concentrated root-zone rinsing solution formulated to help remove accumulated fertilizer salts from soil, coco coir, soilless growing media, and hydroponic systems. It can be used periodically between nutrient changes or during the final ripening stage as a pre-harvest flush.
Excess mineral salts can increase root-zone EC, interfere with nutrient availability, and make it more difficult for roots to absorb water. Clearex draws unwanted salts away from roots and growing media while helping maintain osmotic equilibrium during rinsing.
Why Growers Use Botanicare Clearex
- Removes accumulated fertilizer salts: Helps rinse excess mineral deposits from growing media and root zones.
- Helps prevent nutrient lockout: Reducing salt accumulation can restore a more balanced root-zone environment.
- Supports periodic maintenance: Useful between reservoir changes or when runoff EC indicates unwanted mineral buildup.
- Designed for root-zone flushing: Helps maintain equilibrium around plant roots while salts are being leached away.
- Short pre-harvest program: Botanicare recommends using Clearex with fresh water during the final 3–7 days of the ripening phase.
- Multiple-media compatibility: Suitable for hydroponics, coco coir, soilless mixes, soil, and container gardens.
How to Mix Clearex
Mix 2 teaspoons (10 mL) per gallon of fresh water. Use Clearex with water only—do not add it to a regular fertilizer solution. Mix thoroughly, check the final pH, and adjust it for your crop and growing medium before application.
Hydroponic System Maintenance
- Drain the existing nutrient solution from the reservoir.
- Refill with fresh water and Clearex only.
- Allow the solution to recirculate for approximately two hours.
- Drain the system completely.
- Refill the reservoir with a freshly mixed nutrient solution.
Container, Coco and Soil Maintenance
Drench the growing medium thoroughly with the diluted Clearex solution until approximately 20%–40% runoff drains from the bottom of the container. Resume the regular nutrient program with the next scheduled watering.
Pre-Harvest Application
Hydroponic systems: Drain the existing nutrient solution and refill the reservoir with Clearex and fresh water only. Run this solution during the final 3–7 days of the ripening phase.
Container-grown plants: Apply the diluted solution daily until approximately 10%–20% runoff is achieved. Begin the program during the final 3–7 days before harvest.
When to Consider a Root-Zone Rinse
- Runoff EC or ppm is significantly higher than the incoming solution
- Visible mineral deposits have developed on containers or growing media
- Plants show possible nutrient-lockout symptoms despite adequate feeding
- A hydroponic reservoir is being changed or reset
- The crop has entered its final pre-harvest ripening period
Important Growing Note
Leaf discoloration, wilting, burned tips, and slow growth can have several causes. Check root health, irrigation practices, pH, EC, temperature, and water quality before assuming salt buildup is the problem. Clearex is a rinsing solution rather than a fertilizer and should not replace a complete plant nutrient program during active growth.
