Coast of Maine Organic Planting Soil for Acid-Loving Plants
Coast of Maine Organic Planting Soil for Acid-Loving Plants is a naturally lightweight, low-pH soil conditioner and planting mix formulated for plants that perform best in acidic soil. Its blend of sphagnum peat moss, composted manure and aged bark helps improve existing soil while balancing moisture retention, aeration and drainage.
Use it when planting or maintaining blueberries, strawberries, azaleas, rhododendrons, hydrangeas and other acid-loving plants. The organic ingredients add valuable organic matter while creating a root environment suited to plants that may struggle in neutral or alkaline garden soil.

How to Use
New and Existing Garden Beds
Spread a 2-inch layer over the planting area and work it into the top 4 to 6 inches of existing soil before planting.
Planting Holes
Backfill around the plant using equal parts Coast of Maine Acid-Loving Plants Soil and the surrounding native soil. Tamp lightly without compacting the mixture, then water thoroughly to settle the soil. Add more mixture if settling leaves exposed spaces around the root ball.
Maintaining Established Plants
Apply a 2- to 3-inch layer around established acid-loving plants each year. For best results, apply in early spring before new foliage emerges or during fall after plants become dormant. Keep the material away from direct contact with trunks and woody stems.
Important Growing Information
Soil pH can be influenced by native soil, irrigation water, rainfall, fertilizer and other environmental conditions. Test the planting area periodically rather than relying on planting soil alone to maintain a specific pH. Highly alkaline soil or water may require additional amendment and ongoing monitoring.
This product is primarily formulated for conditioning garden beds and backfilling planting holes. For container planting, consult the package directions and consider blending it with an appropriate container potting mix to maintain suitable drainage and structure.
