Emerald Harvest Sturdy Stalk 0-0-1 is a liquid potassium silicate supplement formulated to strengthen plant cell walls, reinforce stems and branches, and help productive plants support developing flowers and fruit. Its concentrated formula supplies 11.2% silica along with a small amount of soluble potassium for structural and metabolic support.

Sturdy Stalk is a supplemental source of silica and potassium. It is not a complete fertilizer or stand-alone bloom booster.

How Potassium Silicate Supports Plants

Potassium silicate provides a stable source of silicon that gradually forms plant-available silicic acid after being diluted into the root zone. Once absorbed, silicon moves through the plant and becomes deposited in cell walls as silica.

These deposits support:

How to Use

• Application Rate: Use 2–5 mL per gallon of water.
• Per-Liter Equivalent: Approximately 0.5–1.25 mL per liter.
• Starting Stage: Apply as needed beginning in early vegetative growth.
• Flowering Stage: Continue as needed through late flowering.
• Ripening: Discontinue when plants enter the final ripening or flushing period.
• Watering Schedule: The manufacturer recommends applying Sturdy Stalk on water-only days.

Start at the lower end of the range for young or sensitive plants. Increase only when plant size, environmental conditions and structural demand indicate that additional silica may be beneficial.

Recommended Mixing Instructions

1. Shake the container thoroughly before measuring.
2. Fill the watering container or reservoir with fresh water.
3. Add Sturdy Stalk at 2–5 mL per gallon.
4. Mix thoroughly until the supplement is completely dispersed.
5. Allow the diluted solution to stabilize.
6. Check the completed solution’s EC or PPM.
7. Test and adjust the final pH after Sturdy Stalk has been diluted.
8. Apply the prepared solution through the root zone.

Never combine Sturdy Stalk directly with undiluted fertilizer concentrates or other concentrated supplements.

Potassium silicate can affect solution pH. Do not make the final pH adjustment before adding Sturdy Stalk because the supplement may change the reading.

pH and Water Recommendations

Emerald Harvest lists an ideal final nutrient-solution pH range of 5.8–6.3 and a preferred water temperature of 60–72°F.

Add Sturdy Stalk to the water, mix thoroughly and then test the solution. Add pH Down gradually when necessary, checking the reading between small adjustments.

Use the prepared solution promptly rather than storing a diluted mixture for an extended period.

Using It With Emerald Harvest Cal-Mag

Do not use Emerald Harvest Sturdy Stalk and Emerald Harvest Cal-Mag in the same watering session. The official feed chart recommends using these products separately on water-only days.

When plants need both calcium-magnesium and silica support, alternate the products between appropriate watering events. Always monitor plant response, source-water mineral content and total solution strength.

Using It With Base Nutrients and Bloom Boosters

Sturdy Stalk is formulated to complement Emerald Harvest Grow, Micro and Bloom, Cali Pro nutrients and King Kola when each product is used according to the official feeding program.

The current Emerald Harvest chart recommends applying Sturdy Stalk on water-only days rather than adding it to every nutrient feeding. If incorporating it into a different fertilizer program, follow that program’s compatibility guidance and monitor total potassium levels.

Use particular care when combining silica supplements with potassium-rich bloom boosters. Excessive potassium can interfere with the intended nutritional balance.
