General Hydroponics Rapid Rooter Grow Plugs
General Hydroponics Rapid Rooter Replacement Grow Plugs provide a natural, soilless starting medium for seed germination and rooting plant cuttings. These loose propagation plugs are ideal for refilling compatible cell trays or creating a customized seed-starting and cloning setup.
Rapid Rooter plugs are made from sphagnum peat moss and composted tree bark held together with plant-derived polymers. Their porous structure maintains a beneficial balance of moisture and oxygen around developing roots, supporting vigorous early root growth and easy transplanting.
Key Benefits
- Natural soilless composition: Made from composted organic materials bonded with plant-derived polymers.
- Designed for seeds and cuttings: Suitable for seed germination, cloning, and general plant propagation.
- Balanced moisture and aeration: Retains moisture while maintaining essential oxygen around young roots.
- Preformed planting hole: Simplifies the placement of seeds and prepared stem cuttings.
- Supports root-zone biology: The organic matrix provides a hospitable environment for beneficial microbial activity.
- Biodegradable plug material: The entire rooted plug can be transplanted without exposing or disturbing delicate roots.
- Versatile compatibility: Transplant into hydroponic systems, coco coir, soil, or other soilless growing media.
For Seed Germination
- Check the plugs before planting. If necessary, briefly soak or evenly moisten them with water or a very mild nutrient solution.
- Allow excess water to drain so the plugs are moist but not dripping or waterlogged.
- Place one or two seeds into the preformed hole.
- Lightly pinch the opening closed or cover it with a small piece of plug material when darkness is needed for germination.
- Place the plugs in a compatible propagation tray and maintain appropriate warmth and humidity.
For Plant Cuttings
- Prepare each cutting using clean, sanitized tools.
- If desired, apply a compatible rooting gel to the prepared stem.
- Insert the cutting gently into the preformed hole, ensuring the stem contacts the moist plug material.
- Place the plugs in a propagation tray beneath a humidity dome and provide suitable propagation lighting.
Moisture and Transplanting
Keep Rapid Rooter plugs consistently moist without leaving them submerged in deep water. When bottom watering, use only enough water to maintain moisture through gentle wicking.
Transplant once healthy roots become visible through the sides or bottom. Do not remove the plug from the root system—place the entire rooted plug directly into its new hydroponic system, coco coir, soil, or soilless medium.
Storage: Keep unused plugs sealed inside an airtight bag or container in a cool, dark location. Protect them from drying air, excessive moisture, heat, and direct sunlight.
Loose replacement plugs only. Propagation tray, humidity dome, rooting gel, and other accessories are sold separately.
I’ve only tried them on clones. Them work great
They are outstanding better germination than others
