Inside Organic Crunchy Lentil Fest Mix

Organic Green Lentil: Sometimes known as brown lentil, the green lentil is found nearly anywhere lentils are served, with green being the most popular variety of lentil by far. Unlike the red lentil, green lentil retains its shape when cooked to create a bit of uniformity on the plate and in the bowl. Green or brown lentils are ideal for many kinds of soups and stews including Pomegranate Lentil Soup, Ethiopian-Style Lentil Soup, or Coconut Lentil Curry namely because it is able to adopt any flavor infused from a broth, stew, or curry.

Organic Red Lentil: Red lentil is arguably the easiest variety of lentil to cook and usually done in less than 20 minutes and, unlike green lentil, will lose its shape once cooked. Red lentil lends well to a lot of soups, stews, and curries such as famous Butternut Squash and Red Lentil Stew, Red Lentil Sauce, and a Red Lentil and Peach Chutney. Red colors change to a classic bright golden red when cooked, ideal for adding some pop and colors to a plate.

Organic French Lentil: Although tehcnically a shade of green, the French lentil is commonly known as "blue" lentil for its bluish-green hull. Also known just as commonly as "Puy" after the French region where the lentil is traditionally harvested. French lentil can cooked and prepared the same way as green and red lentils for any number of soups, stews, and curries. Pur lentil, or French lentil, definitely has a more noticable pepper flavor that is believed to be accentuated by the volcanic soil in which it is grown in the French region of Puy.

Lens culinaris, or more commonly known as lentil, is one of the earliest domesticated crops ever and is still going. Although a delicious and widely grown sprouting seed, non-GMO Lens culinaris is a popular cover crop traditionally sown in the fall to replenish nitrogen content in garden soil while breaking up tough soils. Lentil is cultivated for its firm roots known to help minimize garden erosion, improve soil tilth and structure, while bolstering weed suppression. Lentil roots are also popularly left untilled in the garden, in which gardeners trust in the power of the roots to have restructured the garden soil to best allow new root growth, drainage, weed control, and oxygen.
