Hanna GroLine pH & ORP Electrode Storage Solution HI70300
Hanna GroLine pH Probe Storage Solution HI70300 is specially formulated to keep pH and ORP electrodes hydrated, responsive, and ready for accurate measurement. Proper storage helps protect the sensitive glass membrane, keeps the reference junction clear, and supports faster stabilization during calibration and testing.
Formulated with reagent-grade chemicals, this storage solution helps minimize microbial growth and reduces unwanted diffusion or osmotic effects between the solution and the electrode’s internal reference electrolyte. It is an essential maintenance product for pH meters used in hydroponics, aquaponics, greenhouses, horticulture, laboratories, water testing, and other applications.
Key Benefits
- Keeps electrodes hydrated: Protects the hydrated layer on the pH-sensitive glass membrane.
- Maintains the reference junction: Helps prevent deposits and dried material from clogging the electrode junction.
- Supports faster response: A properly hydrated probe generally stabilizes faster during calibration and measurement.
- Promotes reliable readings: Correct storage helps preserve electrode performance between uses.
- Helps extend probe life: Prevents damage associated with allowing the sensing bulb and junction to dry out.
- Controls microbial growth: Specially formulated to reduce microbial growth during storage.
- Made for pH and ORP electrodes: Suitable for compatible Hanna pH and oxidation-reduction potential probes.
Why Proper Probe Storage Matters
A pH electrode depends on a hydrated glass membrane and a functioning reference junction to produce reliable measurements. If the probe is allowed to dry out, readings may become slow, unstable, or difficult to calibrate.
Storing the sensing portion of the electrode in Hanna storage solution keeps the glass membrane moist while helping maintain the chemical balance surrounding the reference junction.
How to Use
- Rinse the electrode with distilled or deionized water to remove residual sample or cleaning solution.
- Add fresh Hanna storage solution to the probe’s protective cap or a clean storage container.
- Immerse the glass sensing bulb and reference junction in the solution.
- Secure the protective cap and store the electrode upright when practical.
- Check the cap periodically and replenish the solution if evaporation occurs.
Only the sensing bulb and reference junction need to remain in contact with the solution. Follow the meter or probe manufacturer’s instructions for the correct storage depth.
After Cleaning an Electrode
Cleaning removes residue that can interfere with calibration and measurement, but it may temporarily dehydrate the electrode’s sensing surface. After using an appropriate Hanna electrode cleaning solution, soak the probe in Hanna GroLine Storage Solution for at least one hour before calibrating or taking measurements.
If an electrode has been stored dry for an extended period, additional conditioning may be required. Follow the instructions supplied with the electrode before attempting calibration.
Important Storage Warning
Never store a pH or ORP electrode in distilled, reverse-osmosis, or deionized water. Pure water can draw ions out of the reference system, damage the electrode, shorten its usable life, and produce slow or unstable readings.
Calibration buffer should also not be used as a long-term substitute for proper electrode storage solution.

Compatibility Notes
This solution is intended for pH and ORP electrodes that require wet storage. It is not a pH calibration buffer, probe-cleaning solution, or general-purpose meter cleaner.
Conductivity and TDS probes commonly use different storage and maintenance procedures. Consult the instrument manual before using this solution with any probe other than a compatible pH or ORP electrode.
