Multiple ranges are available for several parameters, including ammonia, chlorine, chromium, copper, hardness, iron, manganese, nickel, nitrite, phosphate, and silica.

Each test must be performed with the compatible Hanna reagent for the selected method. Some applications may also require method-specific sample preparation or dilution.

Advanced Five-Wavelength Optical System

The HI83300 uses five high-efficiency LED light sources with narrow-band interference filters:

A beam splitter directs light toward both the measurement detector and an internal reference detector. The reference detector monitors light-source intensity and compensates for drift caused by power fluctuations, temperature changes, or heating of optical components.

A focusing lens collects light as it exits the cuvette and directs it toward the silicon photodetector. This design helps reduce measurement errors caused by minor scratches, imperfections, or rotational differences in the glass cuvette.

Absorbance Measurement Mode

In addition to the programmed water-analysis methods, the HI83300 provides a dedicated absorbance mode.

How to Perform a Photometric Test

  1. Select the desired programmed method.

  4. Add the required Hanna reagent to the sample.
  5. Mix the sample as directed without introducing bubbles.
  6. Use the programmed reaction timer when required.
  7. Wipe the cuvette with the supplied cloth to remove fingerprints and moisture.
  8. Place the cuvette into the meter and close the cover.
  9. Take the measurement and save the result if desired.

Always follow the instructions supplied with the selected reagent. Test ranges, sample volumes, reaction times, and preparation requirements differ between methods.
