How to Use

Add RAW Cane Molasses to water or nutrient solution at the following rate:

  • Standard Application: Use 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon per gallon of water.
  • New or Sensitive Programs: Begin with 1/8 teaspoon per gallon.
  • Established Biological Programs: Increase up to 1/4 teaspoon per gallon when additional microbial food is appropriate.
  • Application Frequency: Apply as needed according to microbial activity, growing medium, irrigation practices and the applicable feeding schedule.

Begin conservatively when adding carbohydrates to an unfamiliar reservoir or biological program. Additional molasses is not necessarily beneficial once microbial food requirements have been met.

Recommended Mixing Instructions

  1. Fill the reservoir or watering container with fresh water.
  2. Measure the powder using a clean, dry measuring tool.
  3. Pre-dissolve RAW Cane Molasses in a small amount of water.
  4. Add the dissolved solution to the main reservoir or watering container.
  5. Mix or circulate thoroughly.
  6. Add compatible nutrients and supplements individually.
  7. Check the completed solution’s EC or PPM and pH when applicable.
  8. Apply the prepared solution promptly.

Never combine dry fertilizer powders or concentrated supplements directly together. Dissolve each product separately in water.

Using It With Beneficial Microbes

RAW Cane Molasses pairs naturally with beneficial bacteria, fungi and microbial inoculants by supplying a readily available carbon food source.

Add microbial products according to their individual label directions. Avoid using sterilizing agents, strong oxidizers or incompatible disinfectants in the same solution, as these products may reduce or eliminate the microorganisms the molasses is intended to feed.

More carbohydrate does not automatically produce a healthier microbial population. Adequate oxygen, temperature control, sanitation and proper irrigation remain essential.

Compost Tea Applications

Water-soluble cane molasses may be used as a carbon source in actively aerated compost tea and other biologically managed preparations.

Follow a proven compost-tea recipe and maintain strong aeration throughout the brewing process. Excessive carbohydrate content, inadequate oxygen or extended brewing can encourage undesirable microbial conditions.

Use prepared compost tea promptly and clean brewing equipment thoroughly after each batch.

Soil and Coco Coir Applications

In soil and coco coir, RAW Cane Molasses can support beneficial organisms involved in organic-matter decomposition and nutrient cycling.

Apply through normal root-zone irrigation and allow appropriate drainage. Avoid continually saturating the growing medium, as excessive moisture combined with readily available carbohydrates can contribute to low-oxygen root-zone conditions.

RAW Cane Molasses is water-soluble and may be incorporated into biologically managed hydroponic systems. However, carbohydrates feed microorganisms throughout the system—not only those immediately surrounding the roots.

Monitor reservoirs for:

Using It With Other Fertilizers

RAW Cane Molasses can supplement both organic-based and conventional mineral fertilizer programs. It does not replace the nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium or micronutrients supplied by a complete base fertilizer.

Add the product separately after the base fertilizer has been diluted. When using several biological supplements together, avoid unnecessary overlap between carbohydrate products.
