How RAW Grow Supports Vegetative Development
Nitrogen supports chlorophyll, amino acids, proteins and the metabolic processes involved in developing leaves, stems and branches. Phosphorus contributes to cellular energy transfer and root development, while potassium supports water regulation, enzyme activity and nutrient movement.
Magnesium contributes to chlorophyll formation and photosynthesis. Chelated and soluble micronutrients support additional enzymatic, metabolic and structural processes throughout vegetative growth.
Official Soil and Coco Feed Schedule
The current NPK Industries Grow and Bloom chart measures RAW Grow per gallon of water:
- Growth Week 1: 1 teaspoon per gallon
- Growth Week 2: 1 teaspoon per gallon
- Growth Week 3: 1½ teaspoons per gallon
- Growth Week 4: 1½ teaspoons per gallon
- Flowering Transition: Discontinue RAW Grow and begin RAW Bloom according to the flowering chart
The published general application range may extend from 1 to 2 teaspoons per gallon, but the current staged soil and coco chart tops out at 1½ teaspoons. Begin conservatively and increase only when plant response and nutrient measurements support it.
Feeding Strength and Frequency
The NPK Industries soil and coco chart recommends a nutrient-solution strength of approximately 600–800 PPM during vegetative growth. Some plants may require a different concentration depending on variety, maturity, environment and source water.
For soil and coco:
- Fertilize approximately one or two times per week.
- Use plain water between fertilizer applications when needed.
- Monitor runoff PPM or EC for signs of nutrient accumulation.
- Reduce the next feeding if runoff is substantially stronger than the input solution.
- Avoid watering again until the growing medium has dried appropriately for the crop and container.
PPM readings vary among meter conversion scales, so growers using EC should follow a consistent meter and feeding method.
Hydroponic Application
RAW Grow is suitable for hydroponic reservoirs and compatible fertigation systems. Begin at the lower end of the application range and adjust according to reservoir EC or PPM, plant response and the selected hydroponic method.
Recirculating and deep water culture systems may require a lower concentration than soil or coco. Do not automatically apply the full soil-chart rate without monitoring the reservoir.
Recommended Mixing Instructions
- Fill the reservoir or watering container with fresh water.
- Measure RAW Grow carefully with a clean, dry measuring tool.
- Pre-dissolve the powder in a separate container of water.
- Add the dissolved fertilizer to the main reservoir.
- Mix or circulate thoroughly until the solution is uniform.
- Add compatible supplements individually, mixing between additions.
- Measure the completed solution’s EC or PPM.
- Check and adjust pH after all fertilizer products have been added.
- Add compatible microbial inoculants according to their individual directions.
Never combine RAW Grow directly with other dry fertilizer powders or undiluted nutrient concentrates.
Using It With RAW Calcium/Mag
RAW Grow supplies broad vegetative nutrition, and the manufacturer lists calcium and magnesium among the complete formula’s elements. However, the official soil and coco chart still incorporates supplemental RAW Calcium/Mag during later vegetative growth:
- Growth Week 1: No supplemental Calcium/Mag shown
- Growth Week 2: 1/8 teaspoon per gallon
- Growth Weeks 3–4: 1/4 teaspoon per gallon
Supplemental requirements depend on source-water mineral content, growing medium and plant demand. Coco coir and reverse osmosis water may require more calcium and magnesium support than mineral-rich source water.
Follow the current chart, monitor total EC or PPM and avoid automatically adding Cal-Mag when the source water and fertilizer already provide sufficient minerals.
Using It With Other RAW Supplements
RAW Grow already contains kelp, humic acids, cane molasses, silicon dioxide and yucca extract. Growers adding separate versions of these products should account for the ingredients already present in the base formula.
Compatible RAW supplements may be incorporated according to the official feed chart when a more customized program is desired. Avoid adding every available RAW product simultaneously unless the selected chart specifically calls for it.
Transitioning to RAW Bloom
Discontinue RAW Grow when plants enter the flowering or fruiting stage and transition to RAW Bloom 3-12-12.
RAW Bloom replaces the vegetative base formula with a lower-nitrogen, higher-phosphorus and higher-potassium analysis designed for reproductive growth. Do not continue both complete base fertilizers at full strength during the transition unless a crop-specific program explicitly requires overlap.
Growing Media and System Compatibility
RAW Grow is suitable for:
- Soil and container gardens
- Coco coir
- Peat-based and soilless media
- Deep water culture
- Drain-to-waste hydroponics
- Recirculating reservoirs
- Drip irrigation and fertigation
- Flood-and-drain systems
- Other compatible automated irrigation systems
Pre-dissolve the powder and maintain filters, emitters and reservoirs according to the irrigation-system manufacturer’s instructions.
Reservoir Management
RAW Grow contains humic acids, kelp and cane molasses that may affect solution color and biological activity. A darker nutrient solution is not necessarily a sign of contamination, but visual appearance alone should not be used to evaluate reservoir condition.
Maintain appropriate circulation, aeration, temperature and sanitation. Monitor for unexpected odors, biofilm, rapid pH movement or declining dissolved oxygen.
Important Usage Notes
- RAW Grow is a complete vegetative base fertilizer rather than a supplemental growth booster.
- Do not stack it at full strength with another complete base nutrient.
- Begin at a conservative concentration.
- Monitor plant response, EC or PPM, pH and runoff.
- Transition to RAW Bloom when flowering or fruit production begins.
- Store tightly sealed in a cool, dry location.
- Protect the powder from humidity, direct sunlight and contamination.
- Avoid breathing fertilizer dust while measuring.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
