There’s more than one reason that ‘Tulsi’ (or holy) basil—considered a sacred plant in the Hindu religion—has been widely cultivated for millenia. It boasts an enticing clove-like aroma, grows fast, tolerates frost well, and is reputed to combat stress and boost the immune system. This versatile herb can be eaten fresh, dried, or made into tea. The green-leafed plants have a bush growing habit. 70-90 days.

Learn To Grow It

You can sow seeds indoors or directly into the soil in mild areas starting around mid-spring.

Space your plants or seeds 6-8 inches apart in well fertilized soil. Plant your seeds 1/4-3/4 in. deep.
 

This is a "cut-and-come-again" plant so you can harvest leaves as they mature. Keep the leaves well watered and cool.

Mulching the soil around this crop can help protect the plant and keep roots cool and moist. In frost-free zones, this crop can be grow throughout the fall and winter.

Good seed

I had full germination. I never free tulsi basil before. I’m glad I decided to give it a try. After I get more growth I’ll try to use it for tea.
